Mentoring Groups

The monthly mentoring groups are open to those who already have some experience of mindfulness/meditation.  There are 2 groups that run monthly on a Monday or Wednesday evening(same session). You can attend either group and swap between the two to save missing a session or attend  2 sessions in a month to catch up or if you need extra support.

While meditating alone is an important element of our practice, so is meditating and working with others. The group will provide you with the support and spiritual nourishment you need to grow and help you stay committed to your practice.

Here’s some key things you can gain from the group:

Support: I’m always available as additional support if you need it during the month or have any questions.

There is a synergy that takes place when people meditate together. The healing power that is cultivated in a group meditation session is usually greater than when meditating alone. What I love about these groups is that the mentoring is done by the whole group as we share experiences and support each other. We also have some fun along the way!

Help you stay committed to your meditation practice: Many of us have difficulty staying committed to our mindfulness meditation practice. If we have a commitment to a group, we will be more likely to stay committed to our own practice. The group will help you “keep on, keeping on”!

Continued Learning & Development: while this is not a course, every month you will leave with new ideas, tips and encouragement for the month ahead.

Developing Compassion: Compassion is a skill like any other.  Without awareness, we have difficulty seeing the world beyond our thinking and personal concerns.  This self-centeredness is the never-ending source of our suffering because the world will never fully comply with our wishes! Getting involved with supporting others can help shift our frame of reference, and we see how others suffer just as much as we do, if not more.

Camaraderie: Finding the stillness within is like coming home to yourself. Over time, friendships develop with other members of the mentoring group. A bond is formed when we travel along the mindfulness path together. We are all searching for freedom from our own suffering.

My role is to facilitate the group. As a fellow traveller on the mindfulness journey, I’ll share what I’ve learned. As I listen to others, I discover new ways of seeing my own attachments and deepen the development of my own practice.

Mentoring and sharing with others about mindfulness and how to meditate has taught me more than courses, listening to masters talk and reading about meditation and mindfulness. I have developed a passion for sharing with my groups and clients ways to wake up from “the dream of thought” and to nurture our inner joy!

Structure of the group sessions:

  • Grounding and sitting
  • Mindfulness Meditation
  • Mindful Movement
  • Sharing our experiences and discussion
  • Brief teaching to consider often with a handout, video etc.
  • Closing meditation & Metta – Loving Kindness

Groups

Venue: West Road, Whitekirk, East Lothian, EH42 1XA

Cost: £80 per block of 4 – includes handouts, review/support emails, recordings etc.
